SIECUS Is Pushing Sex Ed for “Social Change” in Our Nation’s Schools

Do you think your kids are safe from radical gender indoctrination because you live in one of the red states that (thankfully) have passed laws outlawing such craziness in public schools? Think again. The radical Left is coming for red-state kids as well.

That is if nonprofits like SIECUS: Sex Ed for Social Change get their way. I hadn’t ever heard of SIECUS until recently, but the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States as it was formerly known is a major player in the covert push for “comprehensive sex education” in all of our nation’s schools.

Comprehensive Sex Education

To this end, SIECUS is currently pushing for national sex education standards that would obliterate states’ rights, so bills like the Parental Rights in Education bill in Florida would no longer be applicable. National standards for sex ed would be similar to the national Common Core standards for English and math, meaning that all public schools would have to abandon their current state standards and replace them with national standards enforced by the federal government.

The bill, called the Real Education and Access for Healthy Youth Act (REALYA), was penned by SIECUS and would make their “sex education” a requirement nationwide. It’s important to remember that for the Left the term “sex education” is just a euphemism for radical gender ideology and a host of other inappropriate perversions pushed on children. It bears little resemblance to the facts and anatomy-based approach to sex ed that you and I remember from our childhood.

The bill would fund teacher training on sex education and provide grants for comprehensive sex education. It would also require LGBTQ inclusiveness and prohibit federal funding of “insensitive” programs that are unresponsive to the needs of LGBTQ+ youth, as determined by the radical Left. It would also eliminate all federal funding for sexual risk avoidance education (previously known as abstinence-only programs).

The Radical Agenda

To get an idea of the underlying agenda for this sex ed push, look at SIECUS’s mission statement:

SIECUS envisions an equitable nation where all people receive sex education, are affirmed in their identities, and have the power to make decisions about their own health, pleasure, and wholeness.

Did you catch that? They want sex education in all our nation’s schools that affirms “identities,” meaning that students who are questioning their gender and sexual orientation can have government schools take a first-hand interest and participation in their inner sexual desires, gender confusion, and various attractions. This is the SIECUS vision for America’s children.

On May 22, 2023, Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) and Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) with many cosponsors reintroduced the bill (H.R. 3312; S. 1689) during what SIECUS has branded Sex Ed for All month. Rep. Jayapal said:

Sexual and Reproductive health is an issue of social justice, and the May as Sex Ed for All Month Resolution puts us on a path to a future in which young people have the resources and care they need to make healthy decisions for themselves.

SIECUS added:

Sex education has been proven to positively impact young people’s lives. Yet, still so many young people don’t have access to sex education or are receiving programs that enforce a prescribed morality. SIECUS is committed to changing this narrative and will continue to celebrate and advocate for the rights of young people nationwide.

What about the rights of parents? Substitute the word teenager, child, or minors under 18 every time SIECUS says “young people.” Note the hostility toward religion or even a neutral abstinence-based program, as was so common in the past, when they denounce “programs that enforce a prescribed morality.” Indeed, SIECUS wants “sex education free from shame and stigma.”

What if you want your children to have a healthy aversion to sexual topics? What if you want your kids to have that natural “ew!” reaction to such taboo topics? After all, they are children! If SIECUS and the radical Left get their way, such common sense won’t be allowed. Children will be indoctrinated with a free-love attitude from a young age. All taxpayer funded and coming to a red state near you, unless they are stopped.
