Scott Walter Talks “Dark Money” and the DISCLOSE Act

Ed Martin discusses “dark money” with “really cool dude” Scott Walter, CRC president, on the Pro America Report. Part of the challenge is there is no set definition of “dark money.” Even in Senate hearings on “dark money” where a legal definition would be expected, the loudest complainers refuse to offer a definition. Even so a rough definition based on common usage is “money where you can’t be certain where the money trail started.”

The DISCLOSE Act (S. 443) would force nonprofits to disclose the sources of their funding, which would expose donors and recipients to harassment, particularly from the Left. This leads to a simpler definition of “dark money”: “support for speech the Left want to silence.”

  • Walter’s nine-minute segment starts at 11:02.
  • “a very cool dude” at 1:13
