InfluenceWatch Friday

February 16, 2024

InfluenceWatch, a project of Capital Research Center, is a comprehensive and ever-evolving compilation of our research into the numerous advocacy groups, foundations, and donors working to influence the public policy process. The website offers transparency into these influencers’ funding, motives, and connections while providing insight often neglected by other watchdog groups.

The information compiled in InfluenceWatch gives news outlets and other interested parties research to use in reporting on significant topics that are often overlooked by the American public.

CRC is pleased to present some of the most significant additions to InfluenceWatch in the past week:

  • OneVoice Movement is a policy advocacy organization and a project of the Peaceworks Foundation, which supports a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict. The group is based in the United States, but also operates in Europe and the Middle East. Zimam, OneVoice’s Palestinian partner, calls for the end of Palestine’s “occupation” and supports an independent Palestinian state.
  • The Boston Coalition for Palestinian Rights (BCPR) is a local affiliate of the United States Campaign for Palestinian Rights (USPCR), which advocates for an end to U.S support for the state of Israel. BCPR claimed to have participated in protests at the city’s New Years Eve ”First Night” celebrations, at which it called for a ceasefire in Gaza and an end to U.S aid to Israel following the Hamas-led terrorist attack against Israel on October 7, 2023. Members of the Marxist-Leninist group Workers World Party were also present at the protests.
  • The Rhode Island Coalition for Israel (RICI) promotes the alliance between the United States and Israel while also promoting Western and Judeo-Christian values. The group opposes the anti-Israeli Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement as well as antisemitism within the United States. In October 2023, the group helped organize a protest outside the Rhode Island state capital in response to an earlier pro-Palestinian rally where participants had chanted, “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”
  • The Rhizome Center for Migrants is an immigration aid and advocacy organization that provides legal services to Mexican nationals who are facing deportation or who have already been deported from the United States. The organization advocates for the Biden Administration to pursue more lenient immigration policies, including in some cases allowing for deported migrants with criminal records to be granted “discretionary relief.”
  • The Justice Education Technology Political Action Center (JET-PAC) is a fiscal sponsor organization that advocates for Muslim-American voter turnout. One of its fiscally-sponsored groups, Doctors Against Genocide (DAG), initially planned a rally in December 2023 to be held within the U.S Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C, in order to accuse Israel of genocide in Gaza following the Hamas-led terror attacks against Israel on October 7, 2023. The rally was called off after public outcry, with the museum releasing a statement that the event would have been, “extremely offensive, particularly to Holocaust survivors.”
