MoveOn.Org Plans GOTV Carpooling

Oh sweet Jesus, make it stop.

To stay in the loop, I signed on to MoveOn.org’s email list. The bombardment continues today with an invitation to members in the Silver Spring, Maryland area to move on over to the battleground state of Virginia to volunteer for the Barack Obama presidential campaign.

Of course the appeal is environmentally-friendly. The latest email urges recipients to carpool their way over to Virginia to assist in the get out the vote (GOTV) effort. Here’s the email:

Dear MoveOn member,

If we’ve learned one thing this year, it’s that John McCain will try anything to win. Outrageous attacks, voter suppression, Hail Mary stunts… McCain and the Republicans will leave no tactic untried.

This fall, those tactics mostly haven’t worked. But they could. Remember 2000 and 2004?

Obama isn’t taking victory for granted, and we can’t either. The Obama campaign is focused on talking to millions of voters in swing states, door by door and block by block. And this weekend, the campaign needs your help.

This weekend, a carpool of Obama volunteers is leaving from Silver Spring, bound for Virginia to volunteer for Obama for the day. Every empty seat means lost votes in a crucial state. Can you come? Click here to join in:

Hope you can join us, and thanks again for all you do.

P.S. You can also sign up to drive yourself. The important thing is to come to Virginia if you can. Just click here to sign up as a driver.
