The Spirit of Dean Zerbe Lives On
Dean Zerbe was the Senate Finance Committee guru on all things nonprofit when its chairman was Iowa Republican Charles Grassley. Zerbe left Congress in February for the greener pastures of tax-consulting but the zeal to reconsider what should qualify as a tax-exempt nonprofit charity lives on in countless officials desperate for increased tax revenues, as revealed in today’s useful overview by the New York Times’ Stephanie Strom.
