Tax Cheat Tom Daschle to Face Senators Today

Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle is expected to be on Capitol Hill today begging for his political life after trying to get away with not paying more than $100,000 in taxes.

Daschle is President Obama’s nominee to be secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services and the president’s point man in the fight to impose on Americans socialist health care and the rationing that invariably accompanies it. When he was in the Senate he led various crusades to increase taxes and derided corporations that lawfully put money offshore as “Benedict Arnold corporations.”

The Senate is such a clubby place that it seems unlikely Daschle’s tax problems will derail his nomination.

Daschle’s tax troubles arise from the car and driver Leo J. Hindery Jr., a big donor to Democratic causes and liberal groups such as Media Matters, provided him.
