Bill Clinton Celebrates Impeachment with Document Dump
On the eve of the 10th anniversary of his impeachment as president of the United States, Bill Clinton has finally released the promised list of donors to the William J. Clinton Foundation, the Politico reports. Is there even the slightest possibility he released the documents today in order to drown out any news stories tomorrow about the anniversary?
The former president had promised to disclose the identities of donors in order to avoid accusations of conflict of interest with respect to his wife’s expected tenure as America’s next secretary of state.
The massive list is 2,922 pages long. Our Internet connection keeps conking out on the foundation’s website (presumably web traffic there is heavy right now) but from what we can tell the list is not searchable. This renders it useless to many users on the Web because few people will have the patience to click “next page” 2,921 times in order to examine the whole list.
Deborah Corey Barnes and I profiled the Clinton Foundation in the February 2008 Foundation Watch and I wrote about the conflict of interest issue in the American Spectator.
