Alaska’s Prince of Pork Indicted

One of the leading enemies of fiscal responsibility on Capitol Hill has been indicted on corruption-related charges, according to press reports.

Senator Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), infamous for pushing the “Bridge to Nowhere” and thousands and thousands of other pork-barrel projects, has been under investigation for some time and is alleged to have made false statements to federal investigators during the investigation.

Stevens has been criticized by conservatives for supporting Senator Daniel Akaka‘s (D-Hawaii) bill that would give Native Hawaiians special privileges based on race and the right to create their own government.
