John McCain’s Charitable Contributions

Harper’s columnist Ken Silverstein assesses the patterns of John McCain’s philanthropy by analyzing the tax forms for the John and Cindy McCain Family Foundation of Phoenix. The only thing he can complain about is that the McCains’ make major contributions to their kids’ “elite” private schools. Actually, they are Catholic schools: Xavier College Preparatory was founded by the Sisters of Charity and Brophy College Prep is a Jesuit high school. Perhaps “elite” is a code word.
