Obama College Article Mysteriously Surfaces

Two Sets of Books (Patti Villacorta) noticed that an article Barack Obama wrote back at Columbia University somehow surfaced.

The 1983 article from the Sundial, “Breaking the War Mentality,” is pretty, errr, well, sophomoric. It begins:

Most students at Columbia do not have first hand knowledge of war. Military violence has been a vicarious experience, channeled into our minds through television, film, and print.

I think you get the picture. The piece is drowning in an ocean of platitudes. Why can’t we all just get along? Why do we need nuclear weapons? Yada yada yada.

No wonder the article was concealed for so many years. It’s embarrassing.

  1. I read it twice and still do not know what point the then college student Obama was trying to make. His first and last paragraphs connect but everything else in between is rambling and chaotic. Much like when he goes off the teleprompter.

  2. Young Barack didn’t so well picking the winner in Reagan vs. the USSR negotiations did he? And, like others have mentioned, it is basically three pages of long winded, shallow soundbites.

If that guy from Wikileaks wanted to produce a stash if documents that would be riveting and read by the whole world, why doesn’t he take on the task of discovering what really went on the life of Barack Obama from age 5-30. Who is this guy who is the President of the U.S.? The world still wants to know. It is all going to come out in the future anyway, who wants to make their career and be first?

  3. I was born in 1960. Obama was born in 1961. In 1980, young men of my age group born in 1960, and every year since then were required to register for the draft, should it ever be required. Now as a teacher, we have been given posters to hang in our rooms reminding young men that they too, have to register for the draft when they turn 18. I am curious if the young, anti-military Obama did as he was legally required to do, or if like Clinton, dodged it? Perhaps this question should be asked of him at his next press conference. I bet he will not have a coherent answer on his teleprompter.

  4. It’s absolutely amazing to me how everything written by or about this guy, has to be hidden from the public, except his two self-serving books. The federal government knows more about everyone of it’s citizens, then it does about Obama and illegals, it’s getting to the point, nothing makes any sense anymore, it’s all phoney.

  5. For Sean, I do believe that Obama was a citizen of Indonesia at the time he turned 18, making him exempt from the draft. This also makes him exempt from being president of the USA, or are we changing the Constitution for him?
