Vernuccio on Card Check

Former Labor Department official F. Vincent Vernuccio has a good op-ed in today’s Washington Times about the pending card check legislation.

Vernuccio notes that while the secret ballot in union elections is considered sacrosanct in Mexico, here in the U.S. the Obama administration wants to do away with it altogether.

It is especially ironic that Hilda Solis, Obama’s nominee as Labor secretary, would be the administration’s point woman on the legislation. Solis, he points out, is the daughter of a Mexican immigrant who rose in his union to become a shop steward.

Solis was profiled by Philip Klein in the current issue of Labor Watch.
