A Very Bad Idea from Charles Krauthammer

For a supposed conservative Charles Krauthammer certainly has some strange ideas about economics. He has long supported the idea of raising gasoline taxes in order to wean Americans off their supposed addiction to oil. Never mind that oil is the lifeblood of our economy.

Now Krauthammer proposes slapping a $1 per gallon tax on gas in order to discourage consumption. He insists the tax would be revenue-neutral. Krauthammer is smart enough to know that Americans would never go along with such an outrageous, statist idea.

So why is he giving aid and comfort to the same environmentalists who want to destroy the U.S. economy?
