“The Case Against Barack Obama” Cites CRC

David Freddoso’s much anticipated book, The Case Against Barack Obama: The Unlikely Rise and Unexamined Agenda of the Media’s Favorite Candidate, (Regnery Publishing) went on sale today. (The website for the book may be found here.) Our profile of Obama, “Barack Obama: A Radical Leftist’s Journey from Community Organizing to Politics,” by Elias Crim and Matthew Vadum, Foundation Watch, June 2008, is cited five times in the book.

The citations appear at page 138 (endnote 52 on page 266), again on page 138 (endnote 57 on page 266), page 141 (endnote 68 on page 266), page 148 (endnote 90 on page 267), and page 157 (endnote 20 on page 269).

Some quick tidbits from the book’s introduction:

Obama is “the least experienced politician in at least one hundred years to obtain a major party nomination for President of the United States.” (page ix)

Although Obama “has crafted himself an image as one of those rare reformers who succeeds…the idea of Barack Obama as a reformer is a great lie.” He “has not pursued true reform in any of the offices he has held. He has silently and at times vocally cooperated with Chicago’s Democratic Machine to preserve one of the most overly corrupt political systems in the nation.” In Washington, D.C., “his commitment to reform has been no greater -not even this year, as he runs for office promising ‘change’ and ‘hope.'” (page x)

While “an impressive man,” Obama is “not the force for ‘Change’ or ‘Unity’ that many naïve individuals believe he is. He is simply another liberal Democratic politician who will divide America along the same lines as it has been divided for decades. As a policy-maker, Obama has very bad ideas that would hurt America – they are the same ideas that have been floating around Washington for years, though in some cases more extreme. The same ideas espoused by Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, Barbara Boxer, or any of Obama’s other liberal ideological soulmates on Capitol Hill.” (pages xiixiii)

“We ought to ask why in the world Obama had a seventeen-year friendship with a figure [Tony Rezko] whose livelihood depended on sapping the taxpayer for subsidies and corrupting public officials – officials like Barack Obama.” (page xiii)

“America will not end under a President Obama, but it might be a very different place from the one we know now: a place ruled by a Supreme Court full of young judges enthralled by the notion of a ‘living Constitution’ that says pretty much whatever they want it to say; a place burdened by the higher taxes Obama has promised; an America in which the car you own today becomes illegal to make, but even the slightest restriction on abortion would be wiped away in all fifty states.” (page xiv)
