Making War More Palatable


The coalition fighting in Afghanistan is doing what it can to keep soldiers happy. And why not?

U.S. soldiers may dine on Burger King and Pizza Hut while Canadians grab a donut at Tim Hortons. But Graeme Wood, who penned a snotty column in the Atlantic, believes letting soldiers have access to fast food constitutes “coddling” and is “self-defeating.”

Wood seems to think that soldiers thrive on self-deprivation. Perhaps he’s seen too many Rambo movies.
