Bush Caves on Housing Bailout

President George W. Bush has dropped his principled opposition to the massive housing bailout package that will reward the foolish investors and lenders who created the now-deflating housing bubble. “We do not believe we have time for a prolonged veto fight,” White House press secretary Dana Perino said.

It’s no big surprise that Bush has no backbone on domestic matters, but it is surprising that he doesn’t care that the legislation will give billions of dollars to left-wing activists including the vote fraud factory known as ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now). The money will go into a political slush fund that will be administered by states and localities. Amazingly, even the Washington Post shares “the concern expressed by some conservatives that state and local governments will steer the money to political allies.”
