About EducationWatch
EducationWatch is an online database and news service providing timely information about nonprofit policy and advocacy groups involved in the public debate over the reform of K-12 primary education. Since the publication nearly 20 years ago of A Nation at Risk, a government report on the failures of public education, Americans have focused increasing attention on reforming our country's schools. Today, there are many different groups advocating new ideas to improve education.
EducationWatch is one of several "watchdog" projects of Capital Research Center (CRC). Founded in 1984, CRC is a Washington, D.C.-based think tank that conducts research on charity, philanthropy, and the nonprofit sector. It focuses in particular on nonprofit political advocacy organizations that seek influence over public policy. CRC publications alert donors, policymakers, and the news media about the leadership, activities and funding of these organizations.
EducationWatch serves as an information resource: it identifies education groups, describes their activities, and locates their sources of funding. It also provides reports and analysis of education groups in the news. At the center of EducationWatch is a searchable and interactive database currently covering more than 200 education groups. Our mission is to provide a map of these organizations so that users can identify the people, ideas and money affecting education policy.
