ACORN Association Costs Levenson PR Firm Business

Having ACORN as a client is costing The Advance Group money, reports the Staten Island Advance:

The Staten Island district attorney is probing allegations that a South Shore City Council candidate’s campaign fraudulently canceled more than $35,000 of certified checks to a Manhattan consulting firm, the Advance has learned.

The Advance Group — which has no connection to the Advance newspaper — believes campaign officials for Democrat Janine Materna committed a felony by submitting an affidavit claiming the checks given the firm on Thursday totaling $35,500 were stolen so the bank would stop payment.

That’s because Ms. Materna’s campaign never intended to pay the firm after she lost the election last week to incumbent Republican Councilman Vincent Ignizio, said David Redlener, chief of staff at The Advance Group.

“We believe [the Materna campaign’s] actions are criminal and demonstrate she is completely unfit for public office,” Redlener said. […]

Materna’s campaign manager said The Advance Group’s affiliation with ACORN group cost Materna the election.

The president of the firm is Scott Levenson. He’s the charming fellow whom Glenn Beck threw off his set May 6 for calling the TV host a racist. He’s been helping to coordinate ACORN’s public disinformation strategy which relies heavily on lies and misdirection.

Levenson, who is also a registered lobbyist for New York ACORN, met with White House political director Patrick Gaspard in March. The purpose of the meeting with Gaspard, a former ACORN employee himself, was not disclosed.
